LIFE 101

Most of the years we spend within the four walls of the school environment were spent learning theories of how things work. How to analyze, solve problems given a few clues [symptoms], calculate, and read.

However, when we finally leave the confines of those walls; we discover that we have spend one-third of our lives not preparing for the present simply because the school curriculum does not make provision for people-skills, time-management, emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship, financial intelligence, et al.

We start school afresh once we step into the real world and the courses are very systematic because we take the examinations first, then the lesson; the direct opposite of the school we have been used to. Life is more that just a set of classes and some library of books, far bigger than what we have been made to believe.

Great men/women of the world had just one thing in common; we never hear of their academic excellence- rather, we hear of what they did outside the walls of the school. I am not disputing the fact that school helps us early in life to think, read & write; but after a while, the same school becomes a limitation because they can only push you so far.

When your thinking gets bigger than the school, it threatens to change the curriculum they have been used to; and as such, you will have to conform to school's standards or set a new standard somewhere else. That is exactly what great men/women of the world have done in times past. While the times have changed, the curriculum haven't.

This is a challenge to take education to the next level-PRACTICALS! everything written in the books we read were written by some people who tried out these things; it only suffice to say that this generation should lift those writings off the pages and into the history books by discovering new breakthroughs in engineering, computing, biotechnology, agriculture, arts, e.t.c

Research and development is the only way schools can function optimally, it is the bedrock of any developed country, they keep inventing and patenting because it is a culture. Embrace the culture of continuous learning and improvement. Nothing in LIFE is in its final state yet, it can always get better, there is always a new update to download, a newer version to install.

LIFE 101 is this- LIFE IS PROGRESSIVE [never stagnate, keep learning, keep discovering because it is a life-long journey]

Great piece bro. This is more embarrasing when you being taught old theories that has been dis-proved e.g. Atom is the smallest indivisible part of an element;
The schoold only prepare most to conform to their set rules if you want their benefits. You can NEVER reach your full potential by trying to be like someone else. you must evolve and stamp your presence on the sands of life.How many proffessor are billionaires? How many billionaires are proffessors?

Original Song - Cynical

This is the lyrics of a song that I wrote a while back, decided to title it Cynical. I am still looking for a singer who will add melody to it and use it to bless humanity. If you have concrete ideas, please send an email. Inspiration There have been some low points in my life that I battled with depression, and this period was one of such. I was in the middle of my 'extra year' in the university, was working part-time with a publishing house, and was barely keeping it together. That distorted my view of the world dynamics a little. When I put pen to paper, this is what I came up with. CYNICAL I have become Cynical With all I've been through Though your Love has been there all along I've chosen not to be thankful anymore I hardly ever look forward To the time we've always shared Now I see the light, I change my ways Am pushing aside my busyness to be with you I remember the season When all I had is your Love But so many distractions...

Education Comment

I think, school shouldn't be a place where obsolete junk are dumped in my head but a place where my abilities are sharpened and channeled to benefit mankind. If that were the case, instead of suffering myself in science class in order to become an electronic engineer, I would have stayed in the creative arts and might have created a world-famous advert by now. Coulda, woulda, shoulda won't solve anything now, but for the young ones coming behind reading this, please stay in your area of strength. The williams sisters don't need to know any formula, they do what they do, and they are good at it. Same for Lionel Messi, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Usain Bolt, Picasso, Martin Lawrence, Ali Baba, and a whole bunch of folks like that. School is not the only place you can be educated, it is way overrated. It is just a launchpad, a supposed leverage. Man was not made for the school, but the school was made for the man. Like the bushman said in the 1982 movie The gods Mu...

LIFE; A Brief

Lord, what is happening to me? I feel so numb and I don't understand. Is this feeling okay? What is the whole point if we live just to die? Why does it have to be now, and not decades later? What is the essence of life? What is the meaning of this brief stay on this side of eternity? I see folks with swollen red eyes, and others with dry eyes but pious looks on their faces and can't help but wonder what if... Where shall we go from here? How shall we prevent further occurence or are we doomed to suffer the same fate? Sons die, daughters die, fathers die, mothers die, young ones die, aged folks die, wives die, husbands too. The order in which they die however is not known by anyone but by God. This brings me back to my already futile quest-knowing the point of it all... We live, we die.Why is it that we don't really respond or show up to our folks when good things happen to them? Seems to me like we have taken those good things for granted because they happen every now and...
